Karly

Wigs, Make-Up, and SFX Instructor

Karly graduated with her Bachelor’s of Performing Arts with an emphasis in Hair and Makeup from Southern Utah University. Throughout her time at SUU, Karly worked on a range of Main Stage productions from Sondheim to Shakespeare, designing hair and makeup, building and styling facial hair, prosthetics, and wigs.

After her time at SUU, she went on to further hone her craft at regional theatres such as: the world renowned, Tony winning Utah Shakespeare Festival, the prestigious Sarasota Opera House, the Disney-meets-Broadway Tuacahn Center for the Arts, and finally got her dream job at one of Las Vegas’ leading entertainment group, the illustrious Cirque du Soleil, where she currently resides working on Wigs and Makeup.

Some of the skills she picked up and favorite productions she worked on were: fully constructing a realistic head prop using a two part expanding foam for RICHARD III, styling finger waves for a 1920’s Midsummer’s Night Dream, applying classic stylized opera makeup, assistant Wig Mastering Henry VI parts 2 and 3, working on Beauty and the Beast where our team of 4 built, altered, and styled over 120 wigs and facial hair pieces in 2 and a half weeks, working with airbrush makeup for the Stone Characters in Eurydice, and she was able to construct her very first fully hand tied wig while at USF.

In her downtime, Karly enjoys doing commission work. Recently, she worked on two wig fronts for a puppet on 9 Years to Neptune. She was so excited to work for Bandai Namco for their Elden Ring Promo booth at PAX West 2022. Most recently was able to build a mailbox style wig cage for Jaymes Mansfield on RuPauls Drag Race All Stars 8.

Karly is excited to share her craft and passion for wigs and makeup with you!  Karly is ready to help you with all your wig and makeup needs, from design concepts to construction and application; there are endless opportunities for you to grow more confident in your wig and makeup abilities!
